SIGNAL #003: Dolce Mente - Matteo Tura

There is nothing quite as exciting as a Matteo Tura release, at least for diehard EBSM fans like me. The single 'Dolce Mente' manages to capture everything about his unique sound, while still sounding incredibly fresh. Constantly evolving, while still serving timeless EBSM, that's Matteo Tura for you.

The chant-like, announcement-like vocals in the latter half of the song, paired with those groovy and perfectly syncopated drums is enough to put me in a trance.

Throughout the track, the extremely tactile textures give it a visceral feel, as if the song is touching me. That combined with his signature penchant for momentum and movement — which crowns most of his discography — takes me on a journey, as the song evolves and plays and grows.

I can safely put my hand over a bible and say with my full chest that I am responsible for at least 50% of this masterpiece's streams, and I would not be struck down by God as a liar. We won't get into what exactly that implies, as RADAR is about analyzing amazing dark electronic music, and that's exactly what 'Matilde' personifies.

A great EBSM track stands the test of time, and this track has proven to me again and again with every listen that it is one of those rare, generational classics.

When I listen to 'Matilde', I feel like I'm a vampire in the early 2000's, leaping from rooftop to rooftop as my own kind hunts me down for blaspheming against the vampiric church, the adrenaline of not knowing if I'll escape, and if I do — for how long — that is the dark urban fantasy that Matteo Tura consistently captures in his discography.
